The main page is mostly blank and there is no longin. It is the same on using Chrome or Safari. Does someone actually take care of these things?????

I have to agree and I wish I had learned my lesson earlier in time. And that is true with Silver Daddies as well. If someone has the money to hire a houseboy, I would suggest that you fly out to interview them if they are serious. And since so many of them are in NY or California, I would suggest setting up interviews with them and give them a couple hundred dollars for their time, it's the right thing to do, and I mean ONLY for an interview, not a road test!!!!!!! Treat people with respect from the start and hopefully they show you the same respect and trust. Then you know you have found a gem.

Thanks ucfundude, very helpful information. Some of the scams on this site are pretty obvious, but some are very subtle and obviously scam for a living. Im not in desperate need so it makes it harder for them to take advantage. I agree with what everyone has said, be careful and use common sense.

Good morning / evening. im a well educated, well spoken lad that enjoys the company of an older man. I have limited experience of being a houseboy, it had mainly been a short term thing up until now. It seems to me that there is a lot of confusion about what the term 'Houseboy' means to different people. There is a lot of variety in meanings and that doesnt mean that yours is wrong! Id love to hear from anyone who is interested and I think that a man deciding what he wants is the first step, but after that a discussion to agree what both sides are happy with. As the employer you would naturally be in charge, but its important for both sides to be happy in order to enjoy time together.

Currently living in the Midwest and have been in a successful HB situation for about five years. Started off as friends and developed into a long-standing relationship. I’ve played the role as housekeeper as well as private nurse having helped my dad friend through two heavy surgeries. Upon a recent move to a house that helps my friend live an easier life and in much better health in years I’m feeling a bit underutilized. I am a very social person and my support character side comes out easily. I appreciate my independence but truly feel better when I’m of service to others. Restaurant industry most of my life so I know how to work hard. I’m looking for a temporary arrangement that might turn into something stable. I truly do care for my current arrangement and I would do anything for him, but given his better health I just don’t feel I’m as useful as I once was. We have had 3 long successful term Houseboys and while every situation and agreement is different I pay what the national average is listed for an Au Pair. Here in the US it's roughly $200 per week, then give them room/board and cover any travel that they do with us or meals out. We do not cover phone expenses or auto expenses. Any food request we are usually happy to accommodate. When meeting someone for the first time we will not pay any money up front but we will reimburse them for travel to us. We do this because of all of the scammers. ABSOLUTELY NO MONEY BEFORE WE MEET THEM! I tell everyone one of them this upfront and at some point most of them ask for money. They love to ask to pay for a ticket then send them money for incidentals like meals even when they are only an hour away. It's all a big scam and this site in particular has gotten very very bad. There is a lack of Moderation. Good Luck

Hey, thanks for the reply. I am somewhat new to this, so perhaps you can enlighten me a bit. Do real houseboys ask for money before they come to stay with you? You mentioned compensation. And I agree. But if you are providing room and board and all that goes with living in a place, what do houseboys expect in addition. There was a boy I was talking to that said his current master paid him $100 per month. There was also another that wanted $6000 to pay off bills, before he could come. SInce you are a legit houseboy, what is a fair offering for a houseboy, in addition to room and board. You can give me a weekly, monthly, or annual figure. At least then I would know if I can afford to keep looking for a boy. I cannot afford a lot, or I would pay a lot. Does a houseboy expect the new employer or person hiring to get him there, or should a real houseboy be able to get to the location on his own? Thanks, Mike

I am beginning to wonder if any of the houseboys on this or any other site are real. I have contacted a few, and they all wanted money in advance without verification of any sort. They say exactly what they know you want to hear, but then it becomes clear that is it a money grab scam. I would really like to find a houseboy that needed a place to stay and did not want money in advance. There is only one that I thought may have been legit, but then he stopped talking to me. Some say they want a salary. I have never had a houseboy and I do not know what to expect to pay a houseboy.

I agree with needing cooking skills! Seen and chatted with many houseboys who can't or don't like to cook. I enjoy cooking and would rather have my houseboy assist with the cooking and cleanup!

Thanks for your question. No, I was not thinking of "chef" type cooking skills. I try to eat healthily,but I don't always do so because I don't like to make the effort to cook for just myself. I like to try new simple to prepare recipes. So, no I wasn't expecting houseboy to be chefs. Just willing to prepare simple meals and have a willingness to learn new recipes. Just curious - what kind of dishes would you regularly want? I cook for myself but I’m not sure if it would be considered “good enough” (chef style). I’m no stranger to following recipes but would a learning curve be an immediate No in your opinion? Thank you.
